In short, an automated irrigation system saves you from manually watering your plants by setting up automatic watering intervals that suit your needs.

The system consists of several components. There’s a water container placed next to the grow box, a water pump, and a timer. The pump, submerged in the water container, draws water through a hose to supply your plants with water. The timer allows you to set specific watering intervals.

How to Use the Grow Box Irrigation System

The Bonsanto® Grow Box irrigation system includes a USB Wi-Fi timer and a USB pump. You can schedule the watering of your plants for several weeks in advance. The set includes hoses for two or four plants. If you need to water more than four plants, we recommend purchasing a second system.

Simply place the USB pump into a water container, such as a pot or bucket. The suction cups on the pump ensure it stays in place. This prevents the pump from shifting and interrupting your plant’s water supply. Connect the USB pump to the digital Wi-Fi timer, and you’re ready to go! The timer allows you to schedule specific times for watering your plants.

The amount of water your plant needs depends on factors such as its growth phase. For more details, check our blog on indoor plant watering. As a rule of thumb, water your plant when the top layer of soil is dry. Generally, the water amount should equal about 30% of the pot’s volume. For example, for Bonsanto’s 3.2-liter pots, you’ll need approximately 1 liter of water when the soil’s top layer is dry. Be sure to adjust according to your plant’s growth phase to avoid watering mistakes.
